StockX Fees Explained: What Every Seller Should Know
Selling on StockX isn't like any marketplace, they charge fees to keep things running. But understanding how those fees are calculated can help you plan better and even lower your costs as you sell more.
StockX’s system is a mix of flat fees, tiered seller rates, and a few special rules for luxury categories. Let’s break it down.
Standard Processing Fee
No matter who you are or what you sell, every transaction includes a 3% payment processing fee. This part never changes. It’s added on top of your seller tier fees.
Seller Levels and Transaction Fees
StockX uses a tier system that rewards consistent sellers. The more you sell (in both volume and value), the less you’ll pay in transaction fees. Your tier resets every three months, so staying active is key.
Seller Tier Chart
Tier | Minimum Items Sold | Minimum Sales Volume | Transaction Fee |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1,500 | $1,500 | 9.0% |
2 | 12 | $1,500 | 8.5% |
3 | 40 | $5,000 | 8.0% |
4 | 200 | $25,000 | 7.5% |
5 | 800 | $100,000 | 7.0% |
Luxury Item Fees
Some categories don’t follow the tier discounts. Instead, they have fixed fees:
Category | Fee | Notes |
---|---|---|
Watches | 9.9% | Applies to all watch sales |
Handbags | 14.5% | Applies to all handbag sales |
When Tiers Are Calculated
StockX checks seller performance in quarterly cycles:
- Q1 → January 1 – March 31
- Q2 → April 1 – June 30
- Q3 → July 1 – September 30
- Q4 → October 1 – December 31
If you level up mid-quarter, your lower fees apply instantly for the rest of that period and carry into the next one.
What Counts as a Completed Sale
A sale only counts toward your tier once it’s fully verified and paid out. That means:
- StockX authenticates the product
- The buyer’s payment clears
- You receive your payout (usually within 3 business days after shipment)
Extra Ways to Save: Performance Bonuses
Once you hit Tier 3 or above, you unlock the chance for additional discounts. StockX calls these “performance bonuses,” and they’re based on your shipping speed.
- On-Time Shipping Bonus → If 95%+ of your orders ship on time in a month, you get a 1% fee discount the next month.
- Fast Shipping Bonus → If 80%+ of your sales are shipped within 36 hours, you earn another 1% discount for the next month.
Both bonuses are recalculated monthly, and when combined, they can shave off up to 2% from your seller fees.
If you’re just starting, expect to pay around 12% (9% seller fee + 3% processing). But as you sell more, keep shipping fast, and climb the tiers, you can push that number down significantly, especially once bonuses kick in.
